Here we go Again-Wild horse roleplay-open and accepting

It's been 13 years since the illness took place, killing hundreds of wild horses. Men managed to round up wild mares as they could, rounding up a few stallions 4 months after a cure was created they gave the medicine to the the foals that were young and had been rounded up that had survived. The older mares above 5 also received a treatment. The men bred stallions with the wild mares, all kinds of stallions. the men waited until the stallions were yearlings, and then released them and the other mares. At first these men thought they were the only surviging mustangs, but after releasing the crazy wild animals back into the wild, they saw many other people releasing other horses.

You may have been one of these horse, a horse that was helped by humans, and yet your heart was never tamed, or you were born out in the wild a few years or months after your parents were released. But all you know now is that you and your family are wild.. again.. Many of the horses in the wild who had been there since the beggining keep telling you "Here we go again" and it wasn't until now you knew what it meant, you realised that it meant that the ilness was not the first, 113 years ago, a similar illness took place, and 113 years before that. you've come to realise that every 113 years there is an ilness that will take place, you don't seem worried, why would you, you won't get that old, but what about your grandfoals? and your great grand foals?

Why worry when your free? your happy wild and unworried about what is ahead of you. Mares are looking for herds, -or not- and stallions are looking to gain mares and cover them.

orseacts

A band of horses, which is also known as a herd, consists of 3-30 mares, (rarely that many) their foals and a single dominant stallion. There may be a few stray stallions who tag along with the herd but will be snaked from the herd if caught mating with the dominant stallions mares.

A Band stallion is the 'dominant' stallion of the herd, so to speak. He does not lead the herd, nor is he the leader of the mares. He's not boss. His job is to keep the herd safe from predators and humans, and will chase his herd away from any danger. When with humans, sometimes the stallion will cut away from his herd and lead the human someplace else and after while when he knows he's lost the man he will return to his herd and will keep pushing them. With predators such as, Wolves, Bears, Cougars, etc he will chase his herd to saftey. Stallions may chase off a mountain lion if it is young or ill, but if not he might kick at it once to distract it while his herd takes off and then he will follow. A Band stallion will often depart from his herd in search of good meadows and water and then he'll return and snake his herd toward the area, his lead mare up front. Stallions rarely accept mares colts that are sired by other males, if they are a year or up, they usually get chased out quite violently, if they are younger, they are killed [prepare yourself for that] fillies, usually won't ever leave his herd unless snaked by another male as the stallion can use her if she's not his daughter. Stallions also don't mushy talk over foals, they don't see foals like mares do, stallions are not sweet things that love foals, they are brutal animals that fight to keep their herd and to stay alive. they rarely have time for foals, and only once their colts are old enough, will they start to show them how to spar and fight.

A lead mare's Role is to lead the herd, She is the dominant or alpha mare of the herd. She is usually the oldest and wisest. A lead Mare will lead her herd to safety, and when her stallion has found a good meadow or river or whatever, she will lead the herd up front to the area. The lead mare gets the best drinking spot, and the best grazing spots. Her foal however is not always the most dominant of the lot. The lead mare is not the stallions favorite mare, in fact Stallions don't have lead mares. Lead mares are sorted out through challenges, mares don't get violent, mares will nip, squeal and now and then kick the air, but won't actually draw any blood from other mares. After about 10 minutes, the older mare will win, the younger mare will back away accept her spot. If a horse in the herd (mare, filly, colt) is being disrespectful, or simply being annoying, the lead mare will snake him or her out of the herd and she or he will not be allowed back into the herd until the lead mare allows them. If she snakes them out the band stallion can't and will not do anything about it. The lead mare also has every right to snake her band stallion out of the herd, if he is young or simply cocky and disrespectful, the lead mare will chase him out and won't allow him back until she decides. If she doesn't want him back, she will start calling out to bachelors alarming them there is a herd needing a stallion here. And the band stallion can't do much about it. He will simply have to try and fend away stallions until his Lead lets him back in.

Snaking is when a horse lowers his/her neck and nips at another horses hips, flank and hocks and drives them somewhere, whether towards a herd, or out of a herd. When a stallion snakes, A mare might kick a few times but unless the stallion is 5 years or younger, the mare will eventually give up and will simply go where the stallion wants. With mares snaking out other horses, the more the horse fights, the longer the lead mare will keep the horse out of the herd.

A Bachelor stallion is a young male (or old) whom does not have a herd, often he will join up with what is called a Bachelor Band, which is a band of stallions with an old male whom is between 13 and 20 years who leads the herd the rest of the males simply follow him like his mares. In spring, the older bachelors of the herd will depart and look for mares, if he finds no mares over spring and summer he will return to the bachelor band and stay for autumn and winter. Some lone bachelors, (2- 6 years) will tag along with a herd of mares and their stallion.

Stages of heat in mares
0- not in heat
1- in heat but weak, won't accept, will still likely join herd
2- won't accept but will most likely join herd
3- might accept, will join herd
4- deep in heat, will always accept (even if it's not the band stallion) won't fight nor care, often desperate

Horses are Flight animals, they will not go looking for trouble, they will run away from ANY danger they can sence. Horses are also Claustrophobic and won't go into caves. If its a meter long cave like mostly a small shelter that only one horse can fit in, or mostly stand under like a Rock roof, a mare will often foal under those.

Twins in foals are very very rare. If a Mare has triplets, both mare and all three foals will DEFIANTLY die... Twins are very rare, if a mare has twins, either she or both foals will die. On the rare rare occasion will both mare and foals live. Most of the time one of the twins will die or both. If the mare dies when she has twins, the foals will eventually return to the herd and soon die because none of the mares will accept them because they will have their own foals and if they don't have a foal they they don't have milk. On the off chance will a mare who's foal has died will she accept a foal of another mare. If it is twins she will likely accept her more favored foal and then let the other die for twins in winter won't survive. Foals don't always survive birth, yes sometimes you might need to make your mare birth to a still born, have your foal die in winter or something. Life is cruel.

Lone mares will survive late spring and summer alone, come winter they will start searching for herds because they will not survive on their own. Mares do not get annoyed when a stallion snakes them. And don't ever get away from stallions unless he is younger than 5. If she is snaked she won't care, she might be annoyed for an hour or so and then she simply won't care.

Older mares that can no longer produce foal's will sometimes try to steal foals from other mares. If this happens, a stallion can't and will not do anything about it. The mother can try to take her foal back, but if she fails the foal will die.

When a stallion who had a herd of any amount of mares, if he loses to anotherstallion then all the mares that belong to the stallion will be given to the stallion who won the fight.

Stallions fight all year round, they are more dormant during winter, only fighting each other over grazing grounds or water streams. During Spring and summer, Stallions fight constantly, but again, they don't get that violent, people say stallions rip shreads from one another, that is wrong, Stallions bite, scream, kick, rear, but they rarely cause major injuries. Stallions may leave fights with maybe one bad wound, but it won't be bad and the worst a fight will do too stallions, will make the loser lose his mares, They, will also be tired after the fight. When Stallions fight, the loser will back off, all of the losers mares, will then be taken by the winning stallion. The winning stallion will then need to be more cautious with his mares if he then has a large herd.

Bachelor Stallions spar constantly, when in a herd if they do not sucsessfully gain mares that spring, during autumn, and the next spring, they will fight and argue. Come spring, some bachelors will remain together, usually young stallions may gang up on older stallions herds and try and take their mares, but will rarely succeed in gaining a mare. please put "we are hippos" in your form, i know, but i need to know you understand how horses work

Please ask before you use

→  This is a roleplay! be fair to one another
→   When you have stallions fighting, you are required to pm each other who the winner is, and pm me so i know you've chosen a winner, both of you must pm me the same name so i know you've discussed it.
→  OLDER STALLIONS WILL ALWAYS BEAT A YOUNGER ONE. if there is only 1 year difference, this rule doesn't apply
→  use your own form
→   a layout would be good for each post
no less than 5 well written lines
Though body language is preferred, dialogue is allowed.
This Roleplay is to remain realistic, the only un realistic thing is the talking part, everything else you must obey, if i say it's not realistic, please fix it.
NO POWER PLAYING, but, people get mistaken.. these are examples of not power playing, and power playing-
not power playing- "The lead mare had enough of the fillies attitude and charged her, threatening to snake her out she nipped her flank and began to push her away from the herd. " This simply states that she is getting the filly to move out of the herd, it says nothing about her actually sucessfully pushing the filly from the herd, if it did, it would say this
power playing "the lead mare had enough of the fillies attitude and charged her. Threatening to snake her out she nipped the fillies flank and snaked her out of the herd. Once the yearling was out of the herd, the lead mare returned to her herd." that's CLEAR power playing.. make sure you know the difference.

Make sure you read rule 9
don't go over 4 pages without me, you will get a warning
3 warnings and you may be banned for a week, your characters will be put on hold but if they have a herd or are in a herd, they will remain there, the others will just have to go along with it and pretend their stallion, or the mare is there., if we have to speak to you after you return, your characters will be deleted, any foals they've produced will also be deleted and they will lose any mares they had.
I've read the rules, but i'm not sure how in depth you can go when posting about your horse giving birth, dying or mating...
NO horse is perfect, everyone will die, everyone will lose, get over it.
to keep this realistic, foals may die in winter, horses may get sick
do not create big drama without consulting me or my mods first, my mods will come to me and we will discuss it.
In time me and the mods will come up with an idea and create drama
If you want to add a new character do not make a form on a random page 50 pages from now, go back and put it with the rest of your characters and simply quote your characters form so i can see it, I will check it's on your characters page, if not, you will not be accepted until it's done.
[size=11If you make a foal under 1 year, it must have a mother[/size]
please be nice, and not to much OOC talk on here please
you must have either a short personality or 5 traits to describe your horse. i trust you can write 5 lines during posts
Put the words "pretty pink" in your form somewhere once you read these
Okay last one, please go back and read them again..

oh and, you will need to keep track of your herds and stuff, i'm not doing it as within time they just don't get updated, same with seasons, i'll let you know when the season changes, usually every 20-25 pages, but for the moment page 30 will be summer

Summer is the driest of all seasons. Mares are
still in deep heat, or on the rare occasions, giving birth
to late foals, stallions are always on the lookout for
bachelors and other herd stallions and hungry wild
animals starving for a bite. They will fight off stallions,
but will chase their herd from predators. Food had
grown dry, brown and bitter. Rivers and lakes have
dried up into shallow streams and food for hungry
wild animals has grown scarce, making horses and
caribou more of a target.

________________________________________________________________

Autumn is a season of peace, mares are rarely in
season, stallions have reduced fighting and all herds are
getting fat to sustain themselves through winter. The
grass is beggining to die with the cold weather, leaves
are falling leaving some trees with none, and as winter
grows closer, small amounts of rain turn to snow, but
not enough to cover the ground. Stallions fight only,
for grazing grounds.

________________________________________________________________

Winter is incredibly cold and deadly. Food is
scarce and only the rare few horses can find the right
roots under the snow and dirt to sustain through winter.
Foals and adults die, elder horses die as well, occasionally
you may pass a dead bear, or wolf, no clear injuries,
nothing but frozen to death. There is little to no shelter,
everything is open as the trees hold no leaves. Rivers
and lakes have risen but most are frozen solid. Stallions
don't fight unless taking over a grazing ground where
there may be just enough food for a few days.

________________________________________________________________

Spring is the most violent, most brutal most beautiful
season. Baby animals of all specie's are learning to find
their feet, foals born, females in season, and the mighty
predators hungry from hibernation. Stallions grow more
frisky and violent, their mares are in season and the
stallions want to mate. Mares tease, young bachelors
are tempted, fights over mares stir up. Stallions loose
entire herds, their foals killed. But still, Spring is
beautiful and colourful. Mares can also be on what
is called spring heat, this is where the mares are
in heat for alot longer, and are more viscous about
finding a stallion

also grace can run into chaos when we start if you want, c: or my other boy aha, (they'll both likely dispose of him though)

"faraway kingdom is a very dominant stallion, he will have no one tell him what to do. he is stubborn, that is for sure. if he wants something, he makes sure he gets it, even if it involves pain. he uses his strength and power to make others comply to his wishes, to obey his every command. he is harsh and blunt, he doesn't waste time with nonsense. knight takes no one else's opinion except for his, he believes his is the best and one everyone should follow. he has an opinion on everyone and everything, he likes pretty mares, and he will tell you if he doesn't like your appearance or additude. once he gains mares, he loves to show them off to everyone, to make the other stallions green with envy. but, he keeps his mares on a tight leash, he doesn't let them wander unless he is right behind them. this stallion is very sly, he doesn't show his true colors until a mare is already in his herd, or until his patience runs out."

The dapple grey male looked up seeing a mare whom seemed to have a foal. She was young, very, which meant she'd produce him foals for years to come. He'd deal with that foal beside her soon enough. The stallion turned his muzzle to his shoulder and barrel and nipped harshly pulling loose winter fur from his body causing his coat to look more ragged and untidy, not that he cared of course. Bobbing his head the stallion then pulled his head back and looked to the bay/grullo (?) mare, a beautiful mare she was indeed. His interest grew and due to her being in her last stage, he grew interested. But, he didn't rush to her, instead the male watched her from the hill, like an eagle watching a rabbit, but with a much kinder look, a curious look in his eyes as he watched her.

Alas the male slowly walked down the rocky hill, carefully watching the rocks around him before walking towards the tree line which circled the meadow the mare was in, he'd managed to see her over the tree line, now however he could not, but he was not worried, he could still smell that the mares scent was there. As he walked into the tree line stopping as a large log, was put in his path, being himself, Chaos refused to go around it. So with a single step back the stallion flared his nostrils and then took two steps forwards and jumping, his for legs coming up higher than he needed to lift them, landing about a meter away from the log on the opposite side into the meadow, it wasn't easy jumping such a large log from a stand still. The stallion managed a canter after the jump, but contently pulled himself back to a walk and then moved towards the mare. Coming to a sudden stop he turned his head to his back leg he lifted his hind leg scratched the top of his ear and his neck before pulling his muzzle back to the face the mare. Snorting softly he lowered his muzzle to his knee and rubbed it contently before simply taking a small mouthful of grass. He snorted softly and then picked up a walk, his ears pulled out to the sides showing no threat, instead curiosity. The mare was more beautiful than she looked when he was on the hill. Smirking contently he nickered and stretched his muzzle to her, pricking his ears in greeting before snorting and yanking his muzzle back, pinning his ears back and giving a soft squeal with a strike of his leg. With a sudden burst of energy he nudged her gently and then cantered off, bucking, snorting the stallion lowered his head and bucked again, ears pinned he snorted and then looked to her, curious if she'd follow. Coming to a halt the stallion turned his rump and faced her, ears flicking he snorted and called out rearing up striking his hooves showing off some what.

He snorted gently as he returned to her side, looking at the colt his ears fell back against his skull but for the moment, he ignored the being beside the mare. Instead, ears pulled forwards as he looked at the mare nipping the top of her tail before in attempt to mount. Despite being in stage four, mares still kicked at stallions, so he was cautious.

faraway kingdom

knight // stallion // fourteen // no mares // zero coverings // location; meadow // tags; open

a loud thundering of hooves echoed throughout the rather still air, the scents of the wild filling the equine's nostrils. his long legs continued to eat up the luscious green landscape beneath him, the rich soil showing in some spots as his sharp hooves ripped the grass from its roots. his large chest heaved in and out, his crescent-shaped nostrils trembled with every heaving breath. then, his deep, dark eyes, filled with vigor, were like an eagles, looking for his next victim to prey on. his thick barrel vibrated as a loud, echoing bellow seeped out of his smoky black muzzle, calling out for any mare to hear. that was his mission, to build up his harem, to have mares that would fawn over him, stallions would be envious of him. that is what he wanted. his body moved perfectly in motion, every muscles and tendon working together to thrust the stallion forward. his oval shaped ears flicked back and forth constantly, listening for any calls of a mare in need of a stallion. as soon as he smelt that intoxicating scent or a pleading call filled his ears, he would be off like a rocket. he would woo the female over, be as sweet and flirty as possible before the beast came out. that was how knight was, he would put on a fake show, just to get mares to join him, then he would turn into the thing most mares would want to run from. he won't let them out of his sight, he would keep them close to him at all times, there was no single ounce of kindness to this bachelor. or, was there? perhaps it had just never been found yet..

king of the sea

neptune // stallion // ten // no mares // zero coverings // location; stream // tags; open

the rushing sound of water was all that the palomino tobiano stallion heard, other than that, it was deafeningly quiet. he inhaled deeply, letting as much air as possible fill his lungs before letting it out, eyes closing for a split second. there was no mare scents around, nor did he hear anything, wonderful. not. chaos let a loud snort escape his light pink nostrils, a sign of boredom. he reached his muzzle down towards the running liquid, inhaling its earthy scent. after a few seconds, the bachelor had dipped his velvety muzzle into the water, drinking it, letting it run down his throat. ah, it felt cool, it soothed the burning sensation and sent a relief through his body. lifting his head back up, the painted stallion started to walk away from the water source, letting a welcoming nicker drip from his pink lips, calling out to any mares that could hear him. chaos flicked his light blonde tail against his white and palomino legs, hitting the pesky flies that irritated every equine in the spring time. they were so annoying, they bit and make your skin itch like crazy, who would like that?

the place where stars shine

galaxy // mare // nine // no stallion // in heat; stage three // location; valley // tags; open

the walls of the sleep mountains surrounded a rather small mustang mare, there was one opening, and that was in front of her. but, she was content with being here for now, there was no pesky stallions to irritate her. she let out a soft snort, her dark brown eyes closing for a second before she opened them again. the dapple grey mare started to walk towards a small cluster of trees, the shade looked inviting to her. once she reached it, galaxy lowered her head down to the luscious green grass, plucking at the green stalks lazily. slowly, her eyes flickered shut before opening them again, she was slowly drifting into a light sleep. it couldn't hurt, she was a light sleeper so, she could take a little nap. letting out a deep breath of air, the mare let herself sleep, closing her eyes, ears resting against her head lifelessly.

golden snake

cobra // mare // thirteen // no stallion // in heat; stage two // location; forest waterfall // tags; open

the tree branches overhead emitted soothing shadows over the dappled mare's palomino coat as she grazed. the soft sound of falling water was all she could hear, it filled her flicking ears and hindered her hearing, which she hated. she would never be able to hear if another horse was approaching, though she hoped that the thick, earthy scent would shield her own. cobra was not interested in a herd, not yet anyway. a soft snort escaped from the mare's grey nostrils as she lifted her head, dark brown eyes sparkling in the faint light as she watched the open forest around her. maybe she would be safe here for one obvious reason; who would be wandering through the forest? wolves were common, which she didn't exactly like, why would any male come exploring through this place?

faded ink

feign // mare // six // no stallion // in heat; stage four // location; lake // tags; open

the mare's heat scent surrounded her, even she could smell it. feign was in standing heat, and it made her go crazy, her hormones were all messed up. the small grullo mare let a high-pitched whinny flow from her small smoky muzzle, her dark brown eyes watching around curiously. hearing no response, she set out to find a stallion, one way or another. the small mare started to prance off, away from the large body of water. the lake was only masking her scent, she wanted every stallion to scent her and to try and win her over. she tossed her thick, knotted mane to the side, then licking her lips gently. the mare didn't think she was that far away from other equines, why would they be? most gathered around water sources so, there had to be some herds or bachelors around here somewhere.

city of romance

paris // mare // nine // no stallion // in heat; stage three // location; shore // tags; open

crashing waves threw themselves up against the sandy shore, taking some of the grainy beige pieces with it as it sunk back into the ocean. it was a very peaceful place, the loud sounds were like a harmony that one could experience if only they made it to the beach. a beautiful leopard appaloosa mare flicked her heavily scented tail against her brown, spotted haunches, spreading her irresistible scent around the salty air. her light cream hooves blended in with the cream-colored sand as she stood, letting the bright, spring sun warm her lanky body. a content snort escaped her light grey nostrils, her eyes closing for a couple of moments as she rested. normally she would be out, taunting and teasing stallions but, she had found this shore and it was peaceful for her. she just had to stay for a bit longer.

the beauty inside

kira // mare // four // no stallion // in heat; stage one // location; meadow // tags; open

a young blue roan mare stood by herself in the shade of some pine trees, the bushy branches casting shadows over the female's body. she had her ears flicked back in an uneasy way, she just didn't like being unprotected. she didn't like being with stallions either though so, it was a bit conflicting. snorting softly, the mare held her tail clamped, not wanting her heat scent to spread anymore than it already had. looking around, the mare saw a water hole nearby, just a couple of feet away. looking around quickly, the young mare trotted over to it, inspecting the liquid. after it passed her test, she lowered her velvety muzzle to the water, drinking quickly.

AURORA
The scent of the stallion was more than enough for the mare to distracted from watching her colt. Pricking her brown ears, the mare watched him up on the hill for only a moment. Soon she was moving the colt away from the approaching stallion, in the direction of the woods. It was soon obvious running wasn't going to ruin this stallion, so the mare decided to wait and see his approach. Pinning her darkened ears to her skull, Aurora watched him with her hazel eyes, a look of curiosity hidden in them. At the motion of his muzzle towards her, the mare began to return the favor, but backed up at his sudden outburst. Playfully she kicked out at him with a front hoof. Shaking her mane out, Aurora cantered after him playfully.

Being still a younger mare, the female enjoyed playing around with others still. Pinning her ears as he went towards Caspian, the mare pushed between them once again, a part of her still wanting to protect the young colt. Nuzzling Caspian's little head, Aurora moved off slightly from the stallion, teasing him in a way.

When the grey tried to mount, Aurora snorted before pulling away from him, her back hooves kicking out at him slightly. It wasn't that she didn't want to mate, as her heat was urging her to, but if she got distracted he might try something with Caspian. The only way she would accept a stallion would be if Caspian was either killed or driven away. Neither had a happy ending for the bay colt. Pinning her dark ears, the grullo mare watched the stallion with cautious eyes.
